The gospel is not merely a message that needs to be shared with non-Christians, but also with Christians. It is not something that mature Christians move on from, but rather something that they move deeper into. The gospel is the lens in which we should view theology, ministry, and all aspects of life. The Apostle Paul defined the word “gospel” concisely in [1 Corinthians 15:3-5](https://www.bible.com/bible/59/1co.15) when he wrote, *“**Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,* *that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,* *and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.**”* Simply put, the gospel is all about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, and the implications it has for us.  *“There is one Body and one Spirit...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all...”* *“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters... Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls... So then each of us will give an account of himself to God... So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.”*  *“...If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains—but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.”*  At Compass Church we hold some things in a closed hand meaning we cannot compromise these core beliefs or we will be violating what God has revealed to us clearly in His Word. Other things we hold in an open hand that are areas where two members can disagree and yet still worship together and have fellowship in the same body of believers. Compass believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God, without any error, the all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living. The Church accepts the tenets outlined by “[The Baptist Faith and Message](http://www.sbc.net/bfm2000/bfm2000.asp)” as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention as a general statement of faith and doctrine. So please dress casually and you will feel right at home with the rest of our church family. Outside of meeting new people on Sunday mornings at our worship gathering, there are a couple of other ways for you to build relationships at Compass. Our missional communities (MCs), which are our in-home gatherings, or our Discovering Church Membership Class offered quarterly for people interested in knowing more about who we are as well as giving us an opportunity to get to know you. On Sunday mornings during the service we encourage all ages to participate in a time of corporate worship. Then, we take a ten minute break for our kids to make their way to programming designed especially for them. We have [CompassKids](/ministry/kids) environments for kids birth–5th grade. We believe that kids and students are not just the future of the church but are part of the church now. We believe that kids have the capacity to know God and be a part of the church today.  We desire to partner with parents in their families' journey of faith, and this is why we consider CompassKids to be so much more than childcare.   Every Sunday morning we provide a safe environment for kids from birth through fifth grade where they can learn about Jesus and connect with each other. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our ministry, and it’s an honor to serve with each and every one of them.  Every volunteer who leads in CompassKids has had a background check and is committed to making the ministry a safe, Biblically relevant, and fun environment for your kids. *"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."* On Sunday mornings during the service, we encourage all ages to participate in a time of corporate worship. Then, we take a ten minute break for our kids to make their way to a service designed especially for them. We have Compass Kids environments for kids birth–5th grade.  Parents will be asked to check their kids at one of the check-in kiosks and print out a name tag and a claim tag to present at check-out. Name tags will include your child’s name as well as information regarding specific allergies. From there you will walk them to their age-specific classroom. When you return at the end of service you will check-out with one of the Rovers.  Then, you will hand the claim tag to your child's Small Group Leader. We strive to make our kids ministry a safe environment for your kids to learn about God. We would love for you to be a part of our kids ministry. In fact, we would say they're how we "do church"! These groups provide a place where deeper fellowship and better support for one another can take place. The early church worshipped together in larger settings as well as in homes. Similarly, we unite together in order to be in deeper fellowship with God and one-another. God has reconciled us not only to Himself but also to each other. This "each other" is called His Church. Therefore, we intentionally strive toward community through men's/women's groups, home gatherings, and other personal settings. We have been created to live in community, not in isolation. Physically, we may live in a community; but spiritually, socially, and relationally we often live our lives in complete isolation. We find ourselves with no one to turn to when we have a major issue that has just surfaced in our life. Living in community affords us the opportunity to more wholly experience God through close relationships as we play and pray together, as we encourage and help one another, and as we study and live out God’s word together. *“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."* We believe the church is the family of God called to live on mission to advance His Kingdom. Because we are God's children through Jesus, we are to live as brothers and sisters. The church is not a building, place, or program, but God's people. Living in community is essential to growing in the Gospel and becoming more like Christ. Showing up to a Sunday gathering is great, but it is our desire to see everyone involved in a Missional Community. A Missional Community is not a mid-week program, but a family of missionary servants who are making disciple-making disciples daily. We would love to see all of our Missional Communities hanging out throughout the week, eating meals together and serving their neighborhoods. It is not something you check off a list, but a way of doing life. Groups come in all shapes and sizes—married couples, singles, men, women, kids, no kids, workplace, under 20, over 40—the list goes on. No matter where you are in life, there’s a group for you. The Assimilation team is a dedicated group who helps individuals find their place in the church. If you enjoy helping people discover their gifts, this is the team for you! The Building and Grounds Team is a dedicated group of caretakers who mow, maintain, clean, and repair the physical space our church has. The Compass Café has one simple mission: connect people with the perfect cup of coffee. Come be a part of the team! The care team coordinates and communicates caregiving opportunities within the church and community. A team that loves college students and whose goal is to disciples who make disciples on college campuses. Do you love hanging out with the cutest kids on the planet and showing them that Jesus is fun? Compass Kids is for kids ages birth through 6th grade. We would love for you to join our team! A team committed to brokering opportunities in our community with non-profits for the church. A team of people who actively serve during communion and baptism. Each Sunday we get the opportunity to hang out together in our church-wide worship service. Sunday evenings, we spend time in with our junior high and high school MCs. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to walk with students in developing and growing their relationship with Jesus. You could lead an MC, volunteer at CSM events, and pursue relationships with students outside of church events. If you want to be an impact in the lives of students, we would love you to join our team! A team that coordinates, creates, and oversees the church's aesthetics, design, and decorations.  The Events and Set-up team provides support to those coming and planning events through Compass Church. A team committed to creating a welcoming environment for God's people as they gather. We think that sharing a meal with someone is the best way to get to know them. Our Kitchen and Catering team serves by cooking, planning, and hosting meals for the church. MC Leaders who host and facilitate small groups living on mission as a way of life. The missions team helps broker opportunities for the church to live on mission locally and globally. The offering team serves the church by collecting offering during our weekly gatherings. The office administration team provides administrative help to the Compass Staff to support the overall mission of the church. A dedicated team who ensures a comfortable and secure environment with an incredible first impression. The prayer team coordinates prayer initiatives for the church and communicates prayer requests. A group of talented people who produce the technical aspects of our services with excellence and humility.  A team that encourages the financial health of the church by encouraging giving by the members and the stewardship of the resources we have. A community of artists and storytellers who creatively tell honest and encouraging stories of gospel transformation that inspire the church to worship Jesus for who he is and to remember what he has done. If you have experience shooting, editing, or creating compelling video or images, we would love to have you on our team! The heartbeat of our worship ministry is to inspire people to encounter God. The vision of the worship team is to set the atmosphere for people to encounter God in the corporate gatherings. The Women's Ministry is a group of women committed to creating a welcoming environment for women to congregate and learn about God and life together. Our women's ministry is defined by the one-on-one discipleship opportunities.
