2 Timothy 3:1-17 In a world of longing, or perhaps better penned by John Stott “our quest for transcendence”, God offers to us obedience under Him. While it may not seem very inviting, life under the reign of God is the must promising, peaceful, and fulfilling life there is to offer. Many idols will captivate our eyes and thoughts, but none will deliver the truth and power that God invites us into. This passage has much to say about the severity of idolatry, the subtlety and shortcomings of that false worship, the sufficiency and power of God’s word, and the sacredness (and scarcity) of legacy.
