1 John 3:11-18 The Gospel of John recounts Jesus’ words: “by this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another”. Loving others is to permeate the life of the people of God. How is this to play out in the life of a believer practically? As it turns out, John reveals there is much behind the concept and practice of loving others. 1 John 3 shows that while this practice ultimately points others further to Christ, it is a task most uncomfortable and counter-cultural. A life centered on loving others however, John reminds his readers, is a life filled with joy.
